Carousel I

these are my first shots of night-time lighting in a theme park - any suggestions are welcome. I did not have tri-pod with me :)

@grouser: Thanks! I checked and I had the camera set to ISO 200 for all my shots. I took about 20 of them and just played with the shutter speed and f-stops. I guess I got really lucky :)

Brilliant picture Marion ! I love the blur that gives a lot of movement to the carousel while the middle part stays sharp. A perfect exposition that produces a nice mood. Congrats !

@Charles: I try... :) with all the kid stuff that I have to drag around, there is no room for a tripod...yet, I am sure my time will come :)

Marion! this is fantastic!! Love the motion and the stillness of the center!
About your question I always have my iso at 100 and sometimes 200. I only go higher if I need to for low light conditions. The higher you go you will eventually start to see noise or grain. I would use 800 and the widest aperture setting, at my sons nighttime soccer games so that my cameras shutter speed wouln't be so slow and everything be a blur. But unless there is extremely good light or you have a really good lens it is hard to get good shots when players are moving. He does talk a little more about iso on page 154.

My camera's lowest ISO is 200, which is what I try to use most often, so I will stick to that. Thanks again for your time :) I very much appreciate it!!!

Beautiful. With 1/20 sec there is a feeling of movement and you could still hold your camera. With a tripod you could have tried a lower speed and get a different picture.
